However if you don’t take proper care of your copper fire pit it could soon become tarnished and won’t look as beautiful as it did when first purchased. So in order to make sure that you do take care of yours we offer some tips below when it comes to cleaning yours you may find useful.
Tip 1 – The first thing you must do is allow the coal and ashes in the fire pit to cool down complete before then removing them. If you don’t there is a risk of starting a fire without you realizing it. This is especially important if you intend to purchase a portable model to take with you to the park or beach.
Tip 2 – Once the ashes and coals have been removed now you can get on with cleaning yours to prevent it from tarnishing. First mix a cup of flour with a cup of vinegar to create a paste and then spread this over the surface of your copper fire pit. Allow this to remain on the surface for between 30 minutes and 1 hour before rinsing it off using warm clean water.
Tip 3 – After you have rinsed off the vinegar and flour mixture you now need to apply a mixture of ½ cup of tartar sauce and ½ cup lemon juice to the copper surface. Make sure that it is applied across the surface evenly and let this mixture to remain in place for between 5 and 15 minutes before then washing off once again with warm clean water.
Tip 4 – Finally you need to take a half of lemon on to which you have sprinkled some baking soda and rub it thoroughly over the surface of your copper fire pit. As soon as you have applied this you should immediately rinse it off with warm clean water before polishing it with a clean soft cloth.
It is important that when cleaning your copper fire pit that at no stage should cold water be used to clean it as it will cause the copper to become cracked and this will in turn cause damage to the fire pits surface. Also never use any form of harsh material to scrub them.
